Tempe, AZ

from the notes

Before Mustang Sally, Rick told a story about the last time in Tempe when the band opened their set with it.

The set as tape — each song is as wide as it is long, segued songs run on unbroken tape (split by a splice, not a gap), and jams burn.

1Dr. Darkness — FTP.
2Elizabeth — With Bingo Tour Theme and Mad World teases.
Elizabeth — Jam takes direction from Pete’s piano, even letting him take a lovely solo, before band comes back in building to a gorgeous, soaring peak. Melts away blissfully before great "Tumble".
3Tumble — Unfinished.
Tumble — Tour de force by Pete and Trevor. They seamlessly lead the band from funk, to space rock, to an ultimately glorious resolution. Ben and Jeff really kick it in and for the last 7 min it’s an all out disco-funk party. Melts into evil dissonant space.
4(dawn) — FTP separately from SOS.
